Beach Party
If you live near a nice beach, have a fun party there. If not, you can still have a "Beach" party at a nearby park that has a large sand play area or even in your own yard.
Just fill a few kiddie pools with sand, break out the sand toys, the beach towels, and the lawn chairs and create your own beach.
Invitations:

Make invitations with sand scattered on them - stuck down with glue

Invite the children to dress up as something from the sea...e.g. fish, octopus, jellyfish, hula girl, snorkeler etc.
- A message in a bottle. with sand and tiny shells

Remind guests to wear sunscreen, bug repellent, and to wear or bring hats, swim suits, towels, and sunglasses
Decorations:
- Centrepiece: use a large fish bowl filled with water and rocks and fill it with "live" gold fish. Sprinkle some sand around the bowl on the table and place miniature shells and sea creatures in the sand.
- From coloured cardboard cut out 8-10" fish and seahorses. Decorate them with glitter, suspend or use to decorate walls, tables etc.
- Blue and white balloons and streamers
- beach umbrellas, colourful beach towels, lawn chairs etc.
Games/Activities:
- Sand play (provide buckets, shovels, toy cars, etc.). Have a sand castle competition- where everyone gets a prize!
- Have a treasure hunt- children have to find various beach items- e.g. shell, twig, rock etc hidden throughout the garden
- Dance: The Limbo and the Conga to Little Mermaid music or other
- Beach volleyball
- Shell collage
- Sand painting (paint glue on paper and then sprinkle with coloured sand)
Food/Drink:
- Frogs in the pond – green jelly and lolly or chocolate frogs.
- For the cake use new sand castle mould and put ice cream in it and refreeze. When served cover in cinnamon sugar and lolly shells for sandcastle effect.
- Sandwiches: cut bread with fish shaped cookie cutters and add fillings.
- Fish and chips
Party Treats:
- Sun hats or caps, can be decorated at the party with fabric paint.
- Sand pictures
- Bubble wands and bubble mix
- small sun screens
- Lip balms
